About the IC Team
Mitch Abel
Founder & Chief Educator
After 40 years in corporate sales, Mitch retired in October 2015. He soon realized that he was going to outlive his retirement funds. Feeling that he needed a solution – and perhaps a new vocation – he began exploring new options.
He came across a person who offered to teach him how to manage and grow his portfolio through options trading and value investing. Mitch was intrigued by this new skillset. He quickly learned the basics, and was very successful for the first 9 months.
Then, in the 10th month, the market took a turn for the worse and Mitch lost all his previous earnings, plus some of his principal.
He realized this type of trading was not sustainable for him. He then started exploring other groups and types of options trading. When he first explored intraday trading, he found it much easier to implement than other types of trades.
His very first trade resulted in a profit of $768 in less than 3 minutes, which only reinforced his belief that this short-term process was for him.
This first teacher encouraged students to learn by following his lead in entering and exiting trades. That process was not very successful for Mitch, and it led to a net loss of $150,000 within 6 months.
At this point, he realized he was simply following the leader without really understanding the reasoning behind the timing of the trades.
That’s when he fired the teacher, began to study on his own – and eventually master – each of the individual trades he had learned about.
He studied, practiced daily, and refined a number of trading strategies, and within 6 months he had regained all that he had lost.
The next year, as a result of mastering the various strategies, he doubled his account size. The following year, he nearly doubled it again. And in the third year, he felt he had enough money to retire comfortably.
Despite the financial success, though, he missed the human interaction that had always been a large part of his life. He actually applied to a convenience store chain to be among people again. This happened in January 2020, just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
Before he received a response from the convenience store, he got a phone call from a friend who asked if he could teach him what he had learned. He said yes immediately, and they set up a Zoom room.
That was the beginning of the trading room. He started with that one student, which, as of 2023, has grown to over 100 students.
Mitch’s method of teaching – and his personality – has created a unique & supportive environment for learning options trading, as well as a thriving community.
His depth of knowledge is a valuable resource to his students, as are the insights and perspectives that the students share among themselves. He often “flips the room” and asks students to do the “teaching”, as he firmly believes that teaching is one of the best ways to learn deeply.
Through Investment Current, LLC, he has assembled a team of talented and dedicated individuals who contribute to this unique trading environment.
Ryan Spaulding
Chart Whisperer & Price Action Guru
Ryan Spaulding got his introduction to trading in the Forex markets over 12 years ago. He was introduced to Mitch by a mutual friend and knew immediately he had to learn what Mitch was doing. He became one of Mitch’s very first students.
Ryan is an experienced technical analysis trader. He has invested countless hours and dollars in the pursuit of financial freedom. Now he happily shares his chart reading expertise with Investment Current.
He has two teenage children and his wife is a Nurse Practitioner. He is a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin.
Ryan’s favorite trading quote:
The key to trading success is emotional discipline. If intelligence were the key, there would be a lot more people making money trading… I know this will sound like a cliché, but the single most important
reason that people lose money in the financial markets is that they don’t cut their losses short.
Victor Sperandeo
Victor Perazzoli
Consultant Extraordinaire & Training Master
Back in 2015, Victor became a free agent from Corporate, facing the challenge of managing his retirement funds. He needed to figure out how to handle his finances, but luckily, he reconnected with an old teacher who knew the Warren Buffet way. That connection led him to meet many diverse individuals and become a respected member of the value investment community. Now, he’s a skilled instructor, mentor, and coach, helping others learn the ins and outs of investing.
Professionally, Victor stumbled upon an unexpected outcome with value investing. As Warren Buffet once said, “I am a better investor because I am a businessman, and a better businessman because I am an investor.” Victor took it one step further and added “consultant” to the list. He realized that being a consultant helped him become a better businessman and investor, and being a businessman and investor helped him become a better consultant.
For over 25 years, Victor has built an impressive career consulting globally for top-notch organizations and businesses of all sizes. He’s a pro at providing customized support for analysis, strategy, growth, project management, lean manufacturing, training, and development to business leaders. Victor also spends his time supporting non-profit organizations as an instructor and business coach. So, when Mitch asked for help with the curriculum development team, Victor was happy to lend his skills to the Investment Current crew.

Rande Howell
Psychologist to the Star Traders
Rande Howell teaches traders how to master their instinctive emotional reactivity to situations that they cannot control. Learning to regulate the fight/flight response to perceived danger is the first step in a process that leads to building an intentional mind ready to manage the drama of uncertainty.
He is particularly known for getting at and changing deeply held self-limiting beliefs about a trader’s capacity to manage the uncertainties of life and trading. He teaches that the trader does not control outcome, but he does control the mind he brings into the moment of performance. This is the psychological edge needed to drive a trader’s methodology edge.
He was rewarded the FinTech Award for Best Trading Psychology Educator and has lectured extensively in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. His primary goal is to teach people how to awaken and claim the power that lives within us. He is author of a number of books including Mindful Trading: Mastering your emotions and the Inner Game of Trading.

I’ve also been a life coach, a business and creativity coach, taught marketing to Realtors©, owned an advertising/marketing agency, produced national trade shows and conferences, and am a part-time artist.
